i think the main problem with git documentation is that people work git think that everybody has git concepts in blood! for ex. in github we do not found until now jan/2011 tutorial nor explanations.
thanks for your doc since 2007 very good initiative !

Gitweb now has README and INSTALL files Gitweb has now README and INSTALL files in distribution (INSTALL is there since 24 Mar 2007), with description how to set it up.

BTW. “make gitweb/gitweb.cgi” sets up configuration variables with good defaults, so you need to override only some of them.
